LIT ranks #15 nationally for 2021's most affordable Technical & Trade Schools - College Consensus


BEAUMONT – Lamar Institute of Technology was ranked #15 nationally for the Most Affordable Technical & Trade Schools-2021, announced by College Consensus. LIT is one of two Southeast Texas colleges named to the top 50 list. The other school is San Jacinto College (#23) in Pasadena.

According to the website, “The ranking offers the best school(s) for a return on investment. These trade schools review the best synthesis of educational quality, market reputation and potential for rewarding income.”

LIT President Dr. Lonnie L. Howard said this honor validates the Institute’s importance and value, not only to incoming students, but also within the community. “Every single accolade is meaningful to us, and we are truly honored by this latest acknowledgement.” said, “(LIT) is known for providing innovative teaching to create the workforce of tomorrow. The online training available for in-demand occupations is a huge aspect of this institute. Coupled with the Truck Driving Academy and the Safety Institute, the workforce training programs are a huge resource to this historic town.”

Metrics used to determine ranking

According to College Consensus, the following metrics were used to rank the accredited institutions: Cost - current National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Integrated Postsecondary Education Data Systems (IPEDS); Reputation - data; and Success - data.

This organization gleans and combines results from reputable college ranking publishers and thousands of real student reviews from across the web, “providing the most accurate and comprehensive ranking of a school's reputation and quality available.”
